About Solihull

Aside from the town's retail and industrial areas, Solihull also has many tranquil spots to offer in the shape of its beautiful parks and gardens. The most impressive of these are Malvern and Brueton parks, which are joined and cover no less than 130 acres of the centre of the town, housing a variety of sports and leisure facilities alongside well-maintained parkland and attractive boating lakes.

One site of particular historical interest in Solihull is the stunning National Trust property Baddesley Clinton, which is a riverside Tudor manor house that dates back to the fifteenth century and is home to an extensive collection of beautiful stained glass, spectacular oil paintings, antique furniture and heraldic artefacts that reflect the house's long and chequered heritage.

Another piece of ancient local architecture that warrants a visit is St Alphege's Church, which dates back to the thirteenth century and houses what are widely accepted as one of the country's finest and clearest collections of church bells.

For those with an interest in the history and manufacture of motorbikes, the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull is a fascinating day out. This highly-regarded museum is the largest of its type in the world and houses examples of every major motorcycle manufacturer from every country, plotting the progression from the early days of biking through the so-called 'golden years' of the early to mid-20th century when British bikes were king right up to the present hi-tech models.
